Managing absence at work
Recent evidence suggests that the average level of employee absence is 6.3 days per year, per employee.
This half day event will update you on the law relating to workplace absence and provide you with practical management techniques to help improve attendance in your workplace.
Employee absenteeism can put significant strain on an organisation in terms of a variety of costs. It can also place an additional burden on colleagues, resulting in low morale and loss of productivity.
Having an attendance policy will help employees understand what standards are expected of them and will help managers deal with these issues in a fair and consistent way.
Balancing the health and welfare needs of staff with a robust and fair policy can help to reduce absence, increase productivity, improve staff retention, motivation and employee engagement. The reputation of your organisation may also be enhanced, assisting in employee recruitment.
From a management perspective, a policy will prevent small problems becoming larger ones and help identify and tackle underlying problems such a work life balance, conflict at work or lack of adequate training.
